FAQ

Everything about
GeneratePPT.

How exports work, how generation works, where your decks are stored, privacy details, and fixes for common issues.

Basics

what is generateppt?

GeneratePPT is a deck-first presentation builder. The goal is simple: turn content into a clean slide deck, then export it as a real PPTX or a PDF you can send, edit later, or print.

who is it for?

People who need decks for real work: founders, business teams, consultants, product and marketing, sales, students, and teachers. If your deliverable is a PPTX or PDF, you are the target user.

do i need to install anything?

No. It runs in your browser.

Pricing & billing

what plans do you offer?

One Pro plan. Same features on monthly and annual. Annual is cheaper.

can i cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel from your billing page. You keep access until the end of the paid period.

do i need an api key?

No. Pro includes AI usage.

Exports (PPTX / PDF)

do you export real pptx and pdf files?

Yes. You can export PPTX and PDF. The whole point is to produce files you can send, edit later, or print.

when should i export pptx vs pdf?

Export PPTX when the deck will be edited later. Export PDF when you want a “final” version for sharing, emailing, or printing.

my pdf export looks different from the editor. why?

Most mismatches come from fonts or images. Make sure the fonts are loaded (especially if you switched themes), and prefer background-image placeholders for images because they export more reliably than object-fit in some browsers.

why does export take time on big decks?

Export captures each slide at high resolution. More slides, more images, and heavier fonts increase time and memory usage.

Generation modes

what can i generate from?

Topic, pasted text, PDFs, DOCX, or an outline. Use the input you already have instead of rewriting content.

which mode is best?

Topic: fastest start when you have nothing written yet.

Text: best when you already have notes or a doc you can paste.

PDF/DOCX: best for structured material like reports or papers.

Outline: best when you want control over the sections and flow.

can i generate in other languages?

Yes. Pick a language in the generator.

AI Director

what is ai director?

AI Director edits the current slide on command. It can rewrite text, change structure, adjust hierarchy, and even shift layouts when that is what you ask for.

what should i ask it to do?

Copy: “Make this shorter.” “Rewrite for executives.” “Turn this paragraph into bullets.”

Layout: “Switch to 2 columns.” “Make this a metrics slide.” “Create a comparison.”

Hierarchy: “Make the title shorter and bolder.” “Make the number bigger.”

Clean up: “Fix inconsistencies in tone.” “Standardize section headings.”

can i undo ai changes?

Yes. Use the Undo AI button in the AI Director panel.

Images & visuals

can i add images to slides?

Yes. Click an image placeholder to open the image picker. You can search stock images or upload your own.

can i generate images with ai?

Yes. Use the image generator tab in the image picker. You can also use a reference image to guide style.

why do images sometimes look cropped?

Placeholders usually use “cover” behavior so the slide looks clean. If you need the full image visible, use a different layout or pick an image with better framing for the placeholder shape.

Themes & templates

can i change the theme after generating?

Yes. Switch themes anytime. The deck updates instantly.

can i customize a theme?

Yes. You can edit colors and typography and save as a new custom theme.

can i reorder slides?

Yes. Drag and drop slides in the sidebar. You can also duplicate and delete slides.

Storage & data

where are my decks stored?

Your presentation data is stored in your browser (IndexedDB). That means it stays on your device and in that browser profile.

will i lose my decks if i clear browser data?

Yes. Clearing site data can remove locally stored decks. If a deck matters, export PPTX and keep a copy.

Privacy

what data do you process?

Accounts and payments are handled by your payment provider. Your deck data is stored locally in your browser. If you use AI features, the input you provide is sent to third-party AI providers to generate results.

does ai train on my content?

If you use AI features, your input is sent to third-party AI providers to generate results. Details about provider training and data handling belong in the Privacy Policy. If you want that line in a natural place, put it inside the Privacy section right after “AI inputs you send”, and before “Retention”.

can i use the editor without ai features?

Yes. You can edit slides manually, add templates, and export without using AI generation features.

Performance

why does the editor feel slow with huge decks?

Big decks mean more DOM, more thumbnails, and more images. If it gets heavy, reduce the number of high-res images, keep themes simple, and export earlier instead of pushing everything to 60 slides.

Troubleshooting

export fails or freezes. what should i do first?

Try these in order:

  1. Reduce deck size (test export with 3 to 5 slides).
  2. Remove huge images (especially very large uploads).
  3. Switch to a simpler theme and try again.
  4. Close other tabs to free memory.
  5. Try Chrome if you are on Safari.
the wrong deck opens or my deck is missing

Decks are stored per browser profile. If you switched browsers, used incognito, cleared storage, or changed profiles, local decks may not appear. Use the “My Decks” manager in the same browser profile where you created the deck.

images do not show in export

Prefer using the built-in image placeholder flow. It sets images as CSS background images, which tends to export more reliably. If you paste images in unusual ways, some browsers block them during capture.

More questions

can i present inside the app?

Yes. Use Present mode. It opens a clean fullscreen viewer and supports keyboard navigation.

where do i go for step by step guides?
